The Van Alen Legacy Blue Bloods Book 4 Melissa de la Cruz Books
Wow. That was my first thought when I started this book & when I ended it. Melissa de la Cruz held out on us; there's so much going on in the Blue Bloods universe, that it's unreal; there's such life under a concept that seems so simple, but with such effortless complexity. In this book we find the Blue Bloods reeling from the attack in Rio that killed the strongest Wardens in the Coven, along with revealing silver bloods in their midsts. We see Schuyler on the run with Oliver, her conduit, and we see Mimi and Jack separated, as well. Bliss is in an unusual state & her sister Jordan, is still missing.
Much like in the other books, Schuyler is her usual, awful self. While on the run with Oliver she leads him to believe she loves him and him alone, only to run back to her obsession when he pops back in the picture. She refuses to see the big picture, along with refusing to see herself as a home wrecker she's galavanting with an engaged man & never thinks he's a piece of shit for what he does.
Mimi, though, has become a favorite of mine! Whereas she was shallow, insecure, & darkly hilarious in the first three books, we see her character deepened, along with how she really feels about her connection with Jack. I was saddened to see her return to her old ways once she makes it back to New York after leaving the Venators (she temporarily aids them), but I still loved her.
Jack was a little more accessible in this book, though he was completely paper thin in Revelations (book three), & we saw his strength. We saw him fight side by side with his father, fight for the person he loves, & continue to be incompetent. We also see how weak he is; how he, metaphorically, spits in Mimi's face numerous occasions, & then acts like nothing happened.
The plot's so fast-paced in the beginning of this book, it's lovely! We get views of Rio, other foreign places, along with an inside look into what Venators really do. We see intricately laid plot threads come to fruition and tons of action. I will say, though, that plot threads laid in Blue Bloods that were tied up in this book were completely underwhelming. I mean, the biggest thing we've all been waiting for from book one literally happens in a paragraph, & then that person's off into la la land.
No joke.

The Van Alen Legacy Blue Bloods Book 4 Melissa de la Cruz Books Reviews
The Van Alen Legacy is book 4 in the Blue Blood series. I have loved the other books that came before this one, so of course this one was going to be good.
There are 3 distinct voices in this book; Schuyler, Mimi, and Bliss. I love the fact that we get to hear from these 3. With Sky, the protagonist and Mimi her rival, readers get to see the different sides to the same coin. One is searching for adventure, or something to keep her mind off of things, while the other is in hiding and trying to stay safe. Both want Jack, one has been with him forever and the other is a new love that seems like it is as old as time. This book has help me see Mimi in a better light, I sort of just saw her as a bitch, but she is more and I like that I get a better sense of who she is. I can actually say that I kinda sort of, like her now.
Bliss is in a world all her own. She is trying to stop a super-villain all by herself, she is piecing together clues and trying to come up with a plan. I would have never considered Bliss as a strong person before this book, but now I know better. She was all alone battling this out and to fight against this evil was a really strong thing to do.
There is two things that really kind of pissed me off with this book (that's because I care so much). One is the fact that everyone had only bits and pieces of everything and no one saw the full plan or knew all of the past. Still at this point, some of them are still in the dark. The second thing that pissed me off is this love triangle between Sky, Jack and Oliver. I usually don't have a problem with love triangles, I actually know right off who should be with who, however with this situation it is difficult for me. I love both Jack and Oliver, I have pros and cons for being with both and neither of them I want to see hurt. A decision has been sort of made, and I don't believe for a second that this is where this cramp ends. My heart was joyful for one and broken for the other. UGH!!!
Now that things have come together and they have a plan; can't wait to see what happens next.
